Position Overview

Rakuten’s America AI & Data Division is seeking a passionate, experienced UX Designer to drive user-centered design initiatives, contribute to AI-driven products, and create engaging user experiences across a spectrum of services and platforms in a fast-paced, global environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead UX strategy and design concept development, including projects focused on AI-driven products.
  • Design intuitive, accessible, and visually appealing user interfaces; create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
  • Plan, conduct, and analyze user research (usability testing, user interviews, surveys) and translate findings into actionable design recommendations.
  • Manage and optimize web content by editing, coordinating publishing schedules, and applying SEO best practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams—including Japan-based teams—communicating research findings and championing user-centered design principles.
  • Ensure quality of the user experience through usability testing and collaboration with international teams on UX quality assurance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience as a UX Designer or in a related role, with proven experience partnering with Product, Engineering, Research, and Marketing.
  • Proficiency in UX design tools such as Figma, FigJam, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar.
  • Strong understanding and application of user-centered design principles, interaction design, and information architecture.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Japanese, with experience in cross-cultural collaboration.
  • Ability to analyze research data and translate insights into enhanced UX solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in an international environment.
  • Proven experience with a variety of user research methods, such as usability testing, A/B testing, user interviews, and surveys.

  • Compensation: USD $80,355.00 - $136,400.00 annually (plus discretionary bonus based on job-related factors and geographic location).
