Position Overview

We are seeking a Principal Machine Learning Engineer to join a pioneering team at a dynamic startup based in San Francisco, California. With recent $8M seed funding, you will architect data infrastructure, integrate cutting-edge multimodal models, and shape the analytics roadmap for groundbreaking social media management tools. Applicants must live in SF.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain ETL pipelines to scrape, normalize, and store multimodal data (text, images, video, and audio) from various social platforms at scale.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate and leverage multimodal models for sentiment analysis, object recognition, and audio signal processing.
  • Develop automated workflows to ensure data integrity through anomaly detection, missing data handling, and quality assurance processes.
  • Create actionable dashboards and visualizations to surface key performance indicators and emerging trends for stakeholders.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to prioritize analytics initiatives and define the long-term vision for data and AI strategies.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in data science or machine learning engineering with large unstructured datasets.
  • Strong expertise in Python (Pandas, NumPy), SQL, and orchestration tools such as Airflow or Prefect.
  • Familiarity with vision, text, and audio models, including frameworks like Hugging Face and OpenAI.
  • Experience with social platform APIs (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube) and cloud data storage solutions (e.g., GCS, BigQuery, Snowflake).
  • Solid understanding of statistical methods, including hypothesis testing, regression analysis, and time-series modeling.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building custom architectures for multimodal analysis.
  • Proficiency in designing and running rigorous experiments to validate data-driven hypotheses.
  • Familiarity with emerging trends in social media analytics and AI-driven tools.
  • Ability to translate complex data insights into compelling narratives for non-technical audiences.
  • Prior experience working in a startup environment with a "hacker mentality" and ownership mindset.
