Job Description

Position Overview

The Sales Representative is responsible for growing and developing the sales and margins of MSI's Tile product lines within an assigned geographic territory through the retailer/dealer network. Schedule: Monday to Friday from 08:00 AM to 05:30 PM with 2 Saturdays a month from 09:00 AM to 01:00 PM. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position at the Associate level. Compensation: $65,000 - $75,000 per year, with estimated annual pay for new hires generally ranging from $70,000 to $150,000 or more depending on experience, education level, and commission structure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships with current and prospective customers within the designated territory.
  • Assist customers by providing product knowledge and training to store personnel to ensure effective product presentation and negotiation.
  • Understand product offerings and market competition to position products effectively.
  • Manage displays, samples, and selling tools to optimize customer availability.
  • Consult with dealers on retail pricing, advertising, promotions, and ROI through an understanding of retail financials.
  • Quote prices, discuss credit terms, and prepare sales contracts for customer orders.
  • Estimate delivery dates based on company schedules.
  • Analyze sales reports to identify opportunities with current and potential new customers.
  • Utilize marketing tools such as catalogs, brochures, and vendor collateral to expand market reach.
  • Research and analyze customer needs and market trends.
  • Investigate and resolve issues with deliveries, returns, and credits.
  • Attend trade shows as required throughout the year.
  • Travel locally, nationally, and internationally as needed (40% - 80%).
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Two (2) plus years' experience in channel distribution sales.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related industry experience in natural stone, tile, or hard flooring industries.
  • Strong math skills for calculating discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, area, and volume.
  • Ability to determine effective solutions for customers.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Excellent sales and negotiation skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confidence and motivation to achieve targets.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for problem solving.
  • Resilience in handling customer rejections.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
