Job Description

Position Overview

Lead Triage RN – Full Time | Portland, OR. As Brave Care continues to grow, we're looking for a Lead Triage RN. This is a great opportunity to be part of a practice and company changing the way children and families access and receive care. You will help staff our daytime triage needs and manage a team of additional daytime and after-hours triage nurses. Our clinic is open from 10 AM–10 PM, 7 days per week with 12‑hour shifts averaging 3½ days a week on rotating schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of 4–6 Remote Triage Nurses, including selection, orientation, training, and ongoing performance monitoring.
  • Identify and standardize processes for triage, documentation, and handling both common and uncommon phone calls.
  • Standardize best practices for fielding billing questions and managing upset callers or parents.
  • Accomplish departmental objectives by planning, evaluating, and communicating job expectations and results.
  • Ensure a safe, secure, and legal work environment while developing personal growth opportunities for staff.
  • Coach, counsel, and discipline employees, and enforce systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
  • Conduct regular 1:1 meetings with team members and standardize communication processes with clinic staff.
  • Take on future projects, such as training nurses as primary in-person staff at remote/telemedicine clinics.
  • Identify and establish standard processes for patient contact via telemedicine, parent chat, and phone calls.
  • Provide basic advice and triage assessments for parents, directing patients as needed to next-day appointments, the ER, or 911.
  • Keep accurate and complete records of calls, including patient details and call outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of Management/Supervisory Experience
  • 1–3 years of Pediatric Nursing Experience
  • 1 year of Phone Triage Experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Abstinence from alcohol or drugs during or immediately before your shift
  • Ability to maintain a quiet, professional environment for taking phone calls (or use provided office space)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Process oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask
  • Previous management/supervisory experience is a plus
