Job Description

Position Overview

Senior Accountant (Accountant II) – The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing finance and accounting functions for LIHI, Partnerships, and LLCs. Located in Seattle, WA, this full-time, non‐exempt position requires 40 hours per week (Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm). Compensation: $34.88–$47.82 per hour, DOE. Unionized Position: Represented by Local 8 of the Office of Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU). Posted on 10/24/2025.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and perform ad hoc reconciliations.
  • Process journal entries and accruals.
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Prepare financial statements.
  • Assist with annual budget development.
  • Handle accounts payable processing and manage cash requirements.
  • Process accounts receivable/cash receipts and reconcile rent rolls.
  • Prepare schedules on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis and organize audit work papers.
  • Understand grants and contracts for various projects.
  • Actively contribute information to streamline procedures.
  • Manage the flow of paperwork within the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a staff accountant with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field (experience may be substituted).
  • Previous experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, month-end closing, financial analysis, reconciliation, variance analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and quarterly reporting.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to learn quickly, work well under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility to work evenings/weekends during busy periods and the ability to teach other staff members.
  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Word.
  • Ability to interact with senior management.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with accounting systems and property management systems.
  • Experience in real estate, construction, property management, or nonprofit accounting.
