Position Overview
Broadband Telecom Services (BTS) is seeking an experienced Field Network Technician to support our commercial, government, and enterprise clients. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in networking, IP camera and voice systems, wireless backhaul technologies, and field-integration work, including cabling and wiring. Familiarity with 5G wireless backhauls, point-to-point wireless, fiber optic connections, and VoIP is strongly desired. This role includes interaction with city and government officials, so strong communication skills are required. Must be comfortable operating larger vehicles, such as bucket trucks and equipment vans. A team-player with strong time-management skills will excel in this position.
Compensation: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour | Expected Hours: 40.0 per week | Work Location: In person
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain switches, routers, wireless access points, and VoIP systems.
- Install and troubleshoot IP cameras, NVRs, and camera networks.
- Perform camera installations on traffic poles, rooftops, towers, and elevated structures.
- Safely operate a bucket truck for elevated network and camera installs.
- Build, customize, deploy, and maintain solar‑powered security/communications trailers.
- Integrate broadband solutions including cellular, satellite, microwave, fixed wireless, and 5G backhaul systems.
- Configure WiFi networks for residential, commercial, and enterprise environments.
- Support VoIP platforms and SIP-based communication systems.
- Perform network diagnostics (VLANs, QoS, VPNs, SIP traffic).
- Run, terminate, label, and test structured cabling (CAT5e/CAT6).
- Assist with network builds, upgrades, migrations, and field deployments.
- Obtain relevant vendor and partner certifications.
- Apply basic project-management skills to plan tasks, track progress, and meet deadlines.
- Use strong computer skills and familiarity with Office suite for configuration, documentation, and reporting.
- Use company-provided phone and computer for all field operations.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service while working onsite and remotely.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on networking and field technician experience.
- Experience integrating broadband systems (cellular, wireless, satellite).
- Able to lift 50 lbs. and climb ladders.
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Competency in Office 365 applications with emphasis on Excel data management and report generation.
- Experience with Cisco, MikroTik, Cradlepoint, or Ubiquiti.
- Familiarity with Axis camera systems (Axis Certified a plus).
- Experience with Microsoft Teams Voice or cloud‑hosted VoIP.
- Ability to deploy and support VPN tunnels and QoS.
- Experience with solar systems: charge controllers, batteries, wiring.
