Job Description

Position Overview

Sedgwick, with more than 50 years of experience in risk and productivity management, is seeking a Premium Auditor in Charlotte, North Carolina. As a 1099 contractor, you will work with clients to ensure that the policyholder’s premium accurately reflects their exposure by performing premium audits for workers’ compensation, general liability, and garage and auto liability, while also conducting quality reviews to ensure compliance with state regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide quality and timely premium audits and quality reviews across multiple coverage types.
  • Conduct audits using various methods:
    • Physical – Ideal for complex or large accounts, testing new businesses, or businesses undergoing operational changes.
    • Virtual – A cost-effective option utilizing electronic records.
    • Telephone – Suitable for smaller or less complex policies with a consistent history of audited exposure.
    • Voluntary – Best for small policies with few employees and straightforward operations.
  • Assignment frequency may vary by geographical location; work is assigned based on skill set and capacity.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in the premium audit industry, with knowledge of Workers’ Compensation, General Liability, Auto, and Garage coverages.
  • Ability to organize, manage, and travel within a 60-mile radius while maintaining a flexible, on-demand schedule.
  • Commitment to maintaining product quality in line with industry standards and specific client requirements.
  • Equipment required:
    • Reliable transportation
    • PC, laptop, or smart device with Microsoft Word
    • Scanner or fax
    • High-speed Internet access
  • HS Diploma or GED required
  • Must pass a motor vehicle record check via background screening
  • Skills & Knowledge:
    • Self-starter capable of working independently under limited supervision
    • Ability to meet deadlines with strong organizational skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
    • Professional conduct and excellent interpersonal skills
    • Strong analytical and interpretive abilities
    • Familiarity with the California workers’ compensation classification system and basic manual rules

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry designation such as APA, CIPA, or CPCU
  • WCIRB CompEssentials certification
  • Additional relevant licenses and/or certifications are a plus

Benefits & Perks

  • Contractors earn between $38–$50 per billable hour for premium audits (this includes meeting with the insured, audit completion, and report writing). Telephone audits are compensated on a per audit basis.
  • Quality Reviewers are paid on a client-specific pay scale.
  • Mileage compensation, meals, and lodging are provided for contractors traveling beyond a 60-mile radius for overnight assignments.
