Job Description

Position Overview

Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center East Bank location. This role is a 0.75 FTE position, working 60 hours per pay period on a Schedule: 12 hour night shift (7pm-7:30am) with an every third weekend rotation. Location: Minneapolis, MN. This position is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and paid time off.

M Health Fairview East Bank Hospital offers an extensive range of hospital and clinical services from primary and emergency care to advanced treatments.

About this Unit:

UMMC East Bank Emergency Department is a 28-bed Level 3 Trauma Center that delivers care to about 80 patients per day and 30,000 patients annually. The team includes Board Certified Emergency Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, Registered Nurses, ER Techs, Health Unit Coordinators, Transport, and Case Managers.

Key Responsibilities

The registered nurse in the Emergency Department is responsible and accountable for patient assessment, analysis, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention application, and evaluation of outcomes from entry through discharge.

  • Triaging patients effectively according to policies, laws, and available resources.
  • Using the nursing process to develop an individualized plan of care in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Prioritizing care for multiple patients with varied presentations.
  • Initiating timely interventions to prevent, correct, or minimize risks to patients.
  • Providing effective and timely patient/family education related to the treatment plan.
  • Recognizing and responding to subtle or rapid changes in patient status.

Required Qualifications

  • Current MN RN license
  • 1 year of RN Emergency Department, med/surg, or telemetry nursing experience
  • BLS for Health Care Providers
  • ACLS certification within 6 months of hire
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) and TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Course) certification required within the first year of employment

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year of Emergency Department or critical care experience
  • BSN
