Job Description
Position Overview
Budget and Finance Specialist II at Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking a qualified candidate to assist in the fiscal management of the department. Reporting to the Budget and Finance Specialist IV, the successful candidate will generate budgeting reports using computer applications such as Microsoft Excel, support financial reporting and analysis, and coordinate various activities related to multi-fund accounting and budget development. The position involves working with enterprise business systems, student information systems, research technology, and other IT services. This role offers a hybrid work opportunity, with the requirement that the candidate reside in Iowa at the start of employment.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsibilities: developing financial reports and projections
- Assisting in developing annual departmental budgets and tracking adjustments
- Collecting and analyzing data for budgeting and financial management
- Approving departmental financial transactions
- Managing and advising on multiple funding sources including general funds, student technology fees, fee for service, cost recovery, and grants
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree
- Experience Required: 2 years of related experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, accounting, MIS, or related field
- Experience with multi-fund accounting and budget development, particularly in higher education
- Experience with computerized financial systems
- Experience with financial management, analysis, and reporting
- Previous experience with Workday
