Job Description

Position Overview

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions develops transformative, affordable technology for United States National Security customers, allies, and commercial enterprises. We are seeking a Cloud Engineer with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in cloud engineering on platforms including AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Alibaba, and others. This role supports fast-paced projects across the Software Development, Testing, and System Engineering lifecycles while working closely with cross-functional teams and maintaining a US Gov TS/SCI clearance.

Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience and education | Salary Range: $135,000-$175,000

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement cloud architectures across platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Alibaba.
  • Deploy and integrate containerized software workloads using Docker and Kubernetes (K8S).
  • Automate cloud infrastructure deployment using Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, and similar IaC tools.
  • Architect platform-agnostic solutions that comply with Zero Trust Architecture and industry cybersecurity standards.
  • Implement scalable, robust cloud infrastructures capable of supporting operational missions.
  • Manage security logging, monitoring, alert triage, and participate in security incident response.
  • Provision, configure, automate, monitor, and support enterprise and project cloud services.
  • Collaborate with customers, subcontractors, and cross-functional teams, including cybersecurity experts, to secure US Government projects.
  • Utilize Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) for secure data transfers across environments.
  • Travel as necessary (approximately 10% annually) to support system integration, testing, and customer meetings.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field with a focus on cloud design and system implementation.
  • 5+ years’ experience in cloud engineering, including hands-on deployment and integration on various CSP platforms.
  • Proficiency with Terraform, Ansible, and other IaC tools, together with experience in platform-agnostic solutions.
  • Understanding and application of Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) principles and DevSecOps workflows with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and single sign-on integration using tools like Keycloak.
  • In-depth knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, HTTP) and proficiency with Linux operating systems.
  • Experience working on US Government programs and contributing to artifacts for Authority to Operate (ATO) or Interim Authority to Test (IATT).

Preferred Qualifications

  • RMF/Cyber Experience.
  • Experience with multiple operating systems including Windows and Unix.
  • Familiarity with various Infrastructure as Code (IaC) platforms.
  • Ability to develop or integrate scripts using Python, C#, or other languages.
  • Experience integrating cloud-provided Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) to facilitate secure data transfers.
  • RF & SATCOM experience, along with knowledge in VMWare, VPN, VPC, and CPN.
  • Demonstrated experience in Zero Trust Architecture development and implementation.
  • Information Systems Security Engineering Professional (ISSEP) certification is a plus.
  • Experience in the SATCOM operational environment and Ground Requirements Management Systems.
  • AWS Solutions Architect Associate (SAA) certification.
