Job Summary: Senior Financial Analyst

This position will be a hybrid based role for candidates living in the Grand Rapids, MI area.

As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will play a key role in shaping the company's financial strategy by providing insightful data analysis, financial forecasting, and critical evaluations of business performance. This role will involve working closely with the finance and operational teams to support decision-making, ensuring that we maintain our financial health and achieve business goals. Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • May provide mentorship or guidance to junior financial analysts and assist in reviewing their work for accuracy and insight.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Financial Analysis and Reporting: Lead the preparation of consolidated financial reports and management presentations for executive leadership. Analyze financial data, generate reports, and provide insights into key financial metrics to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead in the development of budgets and financial forecasts by analyzing historical data, identifying trends, and projecting future financial performance.
  • Variance Analysis: Conduct variance analysis to compare actual financial performance against budget and forecasts, identifying areas for improvement or adjustment.
  • Data Management and Integrity: Maintain and manage large datasets, ensuring accuracy and consistency in financial reporting.
  • Business Performance Evaluation: Analyze business unit performance, providing insights on profitability, cost management, and overall efficiency. Partner with department heads and senior management to influence strategic financial decisions.
  • Financial Optimization: Work closely with the finance team to optimize cash flow, revenue recognition, and cost control strategies to drive profitability.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all financial reporting and analysis activities adhere to applicable regulations, standards, and company policies.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously seek opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve reporting accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborative Decision Support: Work cross-functionally with various departments, providing financial insights and analysis to support key business decisions.

By fulfilling these duties, the Senior Financial Analyst significantly contributes to the company's financial health, business growth, and operational effectiveness.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Professional Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis, planning, public accounting, or related roles.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of financial principles, accounting practices, and data analysis methodologies.
  • Analytical Skills: Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel: Strong Excel skills for data analysis, including pivot tables, financial modeling, and advanced formulas.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex financial information to stakeholders.
  • Confidentiality: Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive financial data.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Advanced Education: MBA or relevant master’s degree to demonstrate deeper financial expertise.
  • Professional Experience: Prior experience in financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting to showcase hands-on proficiency. Public accounting experience preferred.
  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with financial software, such as ERP systems and / or data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau.
  • Certifications: CPA, CFA, or similar financial certifications preferred to demonstrate a commitment to professional development.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in the healthcare industry is a plus, as it demonstrates familiarity with relevant financial regulations and challenges.
  • Collaboration: Proven ability to collaborate effectively across departments to gather information and provide insightful analysis.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds intermittently.
