Job Description
Position Overview
Gulfport Energy Corporation, an Oklahoma City–based independent oil and natural gas exploration and production company active in the Utica Shale and SCOOP plays, is seeking a Production Engineer to help create sustainable value. In this role, you will oversee daily well operations, monitor production rates, optimize artificial lift systems, manage chemical treatment programs, and coordinate workover projects. This is a full-time salaried position that may require availability during off-hours for emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize production rates in assigned areas.
- Collaborate with multi-discipline teams to enhance production performance and maximize economics.
- Coordinate with field operations to optimize artificial lift, improve base decline, and reduce downtime.
- Lead regularly scheduled well reviews with field operations and reservoir engineering teams.
- Review lease operating expenses for accuracy and identify opportunities for cost reductions.
- Manage and optimize chemical treatment programs to prevent failures and minimize downtime.
- Prepare AFEs for workovers, flowbacks, facility maintenance, and subsurface repairs.
- Coordinate and execute workover procedures with wellsite supervisors and service providers.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Production, Operations, and/or Reservoir Engineering in the E&P or relevant industry.
- Strong understanding of production optimization and well-intervention techniques.
- Knowledge of artificial lift systems, particularly plunger lift, gas lift, and cap string.
- Familiarity with industry regulations and standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently to deliver value.
- Proficiency in industry software such as Wellview, Harmony, Whitson, Spotfire, or PowerBI.
