Design Intern

Position Overview

Deeplocal is seeking Design Interns with a focus on interactive experience design for Summer 2026. At Deeplocal—a renowned innovation studio based in Pittsburgh, PA—interns work side by side with experience designers, creative marketing strategists, and technologists to develop compelling concepts and immersive experiences. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain mentorship from top professionals while contributing to real-world physical installations, environments, and exhibits.

Key Responsibilities

• Concept Visualization – Communicate abstract ideas through compelling visuals, sketches, and renderings.
• Pitch/RFP Support – Assist in the pitch and RFP process with secondary research, deck design, sketching, modeling, and mood board development.
• Persona and User Journey Support – Help develop personas and user journeys while considering spatial movement and experience flow.
• Physical + Interaction Design – Collaborate to design spatial interactions, environments, and physical objects from early sketches to detailed interaction designs.
• Digital Design (UX/UI/Motion Design) – Prototype and express design and motion concepts through 2D/3D animation, interaction design, and visual effects.
• Visual Design – Create and iterate on finish material sample boards, physical models, and graphic presentations for client approval.

Required Qualifications

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong interest in combining strategy and design to develop a holistic narrative vision.
• Experience in designing spatial interactions, environments, and physical objects.
• Ability to express creative ideas through mockups, mood boards, styleframes, and motion prototypes.
• Proficiency in a 3D modeling software (SketchUp, Rhino, or Fusion preferred).
• Awareness of current aesthetic, cultural, and popular trends.
• A strong understanding of marketing with experience crafting concepts in response to creative briefs.
