S&ME is seeking a motivated and passionate individual for the role of Construction Materials Engineering Technician in Indianapolis. This full-time role is vital in ensuring construction quality and safety by performing concrete, soils, asphalt, and masonry sampling/testing, inspections, and accurate documentation. Enjoy outdoor work, hands-on challenges, and competitive pay based on experience while building your technical skills with paid on-the-job training and certification support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Begin with concrete sampling and testing, and expand into soils, asphalt, and masonry.
  • Earn while you learn with paid, on-the-job training and certification support (ACI and ICC).
  • Perform field and lab tests, maintain equipment, and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Conduct inspections per IBC codes, document findings, and manage data using Metafield®.
  • Adapt to shifting work hours based on project needs and weather conditions, including early mornings, some Saturdays, and overtime (paid at time and a half).

Required Qualifications

  • Strong work ethic and a team mindset.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn; certification attainment is encouraged.
  • Sharp attention to detail and effective communication skills in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Basic math proficiency with an understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure.
  • Ability to manage a fluctuating schedule and occasional travel.
