Key Responsibilities
- Prepare design and construction documents for new structures and structural upgrades as part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team.
- Assist in defining facility requirements/programs for projects in the advanced technologies industry.
- Oversee the work of structural engineers and designers.
- Analyze and design concrete, steel, masonry, and timber structures with an emphasis on seismic design.
- Collaborate with the project team to produce structural calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, and other deliverables.
- Assess existing structures and recommend necessary strengthening measures for new loads.
- Develop design sketches into complete working details and drawings based on engineering fundamentals and applicable codes.
- Ensure timely deliverables that exceed client expectations.
- Guide team performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Conduct field work including handling as-builts, retrofits, construction technical support, and client interactions.
- Assist with training and mentoring of junior engineers and designers.
- Recommend and institute corrective design changes and analyze basic project structural components.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of seven years of experience as a structural engineer
- Experience in the analysis and design of structures with an emphasis on seismic design
- Hands on experience with structural engineering software such as ETABS, RISA, RAM, STAAD, SAP, Mathcad, and ENERCALC
- Detailed knowledge of building codes and seismic requirements
- The ability to climb stairs, ladders, and equipment/structures of varying heights
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication including report generation and group presentations
- A bachelor of science in civil engineering or a master of science in structural engineering from an ABET accredited institution
- A Professional Engineer License
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AutoCAD and REVIT
- Experience in private sector industrial repair/remediation and greenfield projects
- A Structural Engineering License
