Job Description
Position Overview
In this role you are responsible for coordinating patient services, case management and providing assigned patients with direct skilled care while teaching patient care skills. You will initiate wound/ostomy nursing procedures based on assessments and serve as a resource to both medical and nursing staff. This position is located in Spearfish, SD USA within the SPH HBO/Wound Care department. Employee type is PRN. Compensation: Starting Pay Rate Range: $34.40 - $43.00.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrates knowledge of standards, policies and procedures and integrates that knowledge into the delivery of care, performing nursing procedures and treatments according to unit specific standards.
- Assesses patients appropriately, applies clinical interventions, evaluates outcomes, and revises the plan of care with respect to gastrointestinal, genitourinary and integumentary systems.
- Follows patients as outpatients when referred by the physician for evaluation and care.
- Formulates, implements, evaluates and revises the plan of care based on patient assessments, reporting patient responses to physicians and staff.
- Initiates and documents educational needs while providing necessary resources to patients, families, or caregivers.
- Selects potential stoma sites pre-operatively based on patient anatomy, activity and lifestyle, and initiates pre-op teaching as required.
- Organizes and prioritizes the delivery of care consistently, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration for optimal patient outcomes.
- Recognizes emergency situations and initiates appropriate responses to prevent adverse events and promote positive outcomes.
- Utilizes critical thinking in coordinating medical and nursing interventions to promote effective care planning.
- Documents all patient information timely and accurately, maintaining patient records per guidelines.
- Sets an example of clinical excellence and acts as a mentor and resource to clinical staff, patients, and families.
- Evaluates the quality and quantity of nursing care and recommends changes to improve patient outcomes.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Certification: Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience: 1+ years of Registered Nurse Experience; 1+ years of Wound Care Experience
- Education: Bachelors degree in Nursing
- Certification: Wound Care Certification/Specialist from an accredited institution
