Job Description

Position Overview

The System Finance & Special Projects Manager plays a highly visible role in supporting the execution of BMCHS’s financial strategy in alignment with organizational goals. This position leads and delivers key financial initiatives—including strategic balance sheet and expense management, business case development, budgeting, financial planning and analysis, and operational improvement efforts—by combining systems-level thinking with hands-on execution. It translates complex financial data into actionable insights to support informed decision-making and optimize financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of one or more System Finance (Sr.) Directors, support multiple projects simultaneously.
  • In partnership with the Sr. Director of Corporate Finance, support the annual budget process to ensure alignment with hospital goals.
  • Monitor budget performance, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions as necessary.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Help manage cross-functional initiatives across BMCHS, including the selection and implementation of technology/AI solutions for key use cases.
  • Lead development and preparation of external financial communications for stakeholders, including board materials, investor presentations, and capital markets engagement.
  • Create and maintain financial dashboards and analytics tools to monitor performance against targets and drive accountability.
  • Drive operational excellence within the Finance function, including KPI development, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field plus a minimum of 2 years of experience in strategy consulting, investment banking, or private equity with a healthcare focus; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Compensation: $72,500.00 - $105,000.00 – This range is based on Boston-area data and may be adjusted based on education, experience, skills, certifications, internal equity, and market competitiveness.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA, MPH, or another advanced degree.
  • At least 3-4 years of experience in strategic finance or FP&A with a healthcare-services focus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects to meet deadlines.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel and PowerPoint), with strong skills in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
