Position Overview
woodcons.com is seeking aSoftware Engineer, Entry to Junior Levelin San Antonio, Texas, USA. This full-time role (Days shift, no telework) is an opportunity for candidates at various stages in their career—from recent graduates to experienced professionals—to develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems. Our projects involve processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens and possess an active TS/SCI Security Clearance with a Polygraph.
Salary Range:$125,000 to $200,000
Key Responsibilities
- Understand user needs and design software to meet them
- Fix bugs in existing software
- Suggest ways to improve documentation and development processes
- Create new software or add features to existing software
- Integrate software into new or existing systems
- Write simple data queries
- Write or review software documentation
- Lead a team or work as part of a team, depending on experience
- Design or implement complex database queries
- Develop algorithms to meet performance standards
- Help develop and run tests for software components
- Analyze system performance and work with users or engineers to find solutions
- Modify software to fix errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance
- Use scientific analysis and math models to design software
- Ensure team products meet quality standards
- Recommend new technologies and processes
- Lead or support multiple software development teams
- Choose the best development process with the customer and system engineers
- Delegate tasks to teams and monitor their performance
Required Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active TS/SCI Security Clearance and Polygraph
- Entry Level Software Engineer:No demonstrated experience is required. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
- Junior Software Engineer:Seven (7) years of experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
