Job Description
Position Overview
We are seeking an Insurance Operations Specialist in Omaha to support our life, disability, and long term care insurance practice. This role is part of a growing, award-winning team within the Private Client Group. You will work directly with affluent clients and business owners, assisting through the application, underwriting process, and policy servicing while ensuring full compliance with NM and industry requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Insurance New Business
- Have strong knowledge of life, disability and long term care insurance, as well as annuities.
- Possess general knowledge of underwriting.
- Work directly with clients and underwriters to ensure policies are issued quickly and correctly.
- Complete and submit insurance applications, conversions, and policy changes.
- Monitor the ongoing status of insurance applications.
- Arrange for any applicable medical exams necessary for underwriting.
- Support
- Handle case notes, process correspondence, and maintain client case files along with policy servicing paperwork.
- Respond to home office inquiries.
- Ensure that Northwestern Mutual compliance requirements are implemented and followed.
- Client Service
- Correspond with clients to address insurance-related service issues.
- Explain inforce insurance products to existing clients.
- Provide status and account value information to clients for non-securities related accounts.
- Process non-securities related insurance service requests, including bank info changes, address changes, loan requests, and beneficiary changes.
- Discuss potential tax consequences, costs, and account fees.
- Maintain a daily task reminder system for policy follow-ups and service requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study (preferred).
- Nebraska Life & Health License (in good standing).
- At least 1 year of experience with a specific focus on insurance operations and underwriting.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Desire to obtain further credentialing within the industry (e.g., Series 7 and 63, CFP, CLU, ChFC, WMCP, or RICP) by obtaining licenses and professional designations.
- Ability to maintain and respect the privacy and confidentiality of all clients and their accounts.
- Familiarity with Microsoft applications, data entry, and information retrieval software.
