Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Identifies, assesses, and diagnoses patient problems through thorough assessments and interactions; evaluates actual or potential health issues.
  • Assesses, plans, and implements interventions to address patient care challenges.
  • Formulates and documents individualized care plans in the patient’s record.
  • Evaluates patient responses to interventions and adjusts care plans as needed to achieve healthcare goals.
  • Educates patients, families, and significant others about post-discharge programs and care.
  • Coordinates patient care meetings with the healthcare team to revise plans based on changing conditions.
  • Maintains a safe and therapeutic patient care environment.
  • Provides guidance to team members to ensure the delivery of quality patient care.
  • Remains current on advances in nursing care by participating in educational programs.
  • Orients and educates new staff in nursing techniques and departmental procedures.
  • Oversees direct patient care in accordance with established nursing protocols and physicians' orders.
  • Utilizes knowledge of medications, procedures, infection control, and safety precautions to initiate appropriate interventions in crisis situations.
  • Participates in total quality management initiatives to improve patient and system outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system (obtain within 30 days of hire).
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah, or the ability to obtain one within 90 days (maintain current Interstate Compact if applicable).
  • Proven ability to deliver exceptional nursing care including patient assessment, clinical intervention, and care plan formulation.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills with the capacity to perform under high-stress conditions and extended shifts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within one year of hire.
