Data Analyst (reporting, R, SQL, PowerBI)

Position Overview

A non-profit news organization based in Maryland is looking to add 3 Data Analysts to their data reporting team. Focused on delivering high-quality local journalism to Northern Maryland, the organization is dedicated to building a trustworthy news operation that truly reflects the community. The available roles include a Senior Data Analyst and 2 Mid-Level Data Analysts. In these roles, you will work with diverse data sets to uncover important stories, transform numbers into compelling charts and interactives, and collaborate closely with reporters across a range of topics.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret data sets to uncover significant stories.
• Design and create compelling data visualizations and interactive charts.
• Collaborate with reporters to integrate data insights into news stories.
• Build efficient dashboards (for Mid-Level roles focused on dashboard creation).
• Architect and design analytics solutions (for the Analytics Engineer role).

Required Qualifications

• Senior Data Analyst: At least 5 years of experience in creating data visualizations.
• Heavy SQL experience.
• Experience with visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, or Looker.
• Proficiency in Python and R.
