Position Overview
Job Title: Microbiology Laboratory Technician III
Location: San Diego, CA
Duration: 12 months
Job Type: Contract (40 hours a week)
Reporting to the Microbiology Lab Supervisor within the Quality Assurance department, this position supports the daily operations of the microbiology laboratory by performing microbiological testing in accordance with established work instructions, procedures, protocols, and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform microbiological testing such as SDA, Bioburden, LAL, and other contamination assessments as required.
- Prepare product test samples for analysis.
- Conduct environmental monitoring activities.
- Calibrate, clean, and decontaminate laboratory equipment and glassware.
- Collect, trend, and report data as needed.
- Assist with the implementation and validation of new laboratory equipment.
- Support the alignment of local quality documents and procedures with corporate policies.
- Provide support during internal and external audits.
- Build and maintain internal networks and develop external resources to facilitate task completion with suppliers.
- Proactively identify and assist in resolving out-of-specification (OOS) laboratory results.
- Plan, organize, and prioritize daily tasks to meet established schedules.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline or a minimum of three years of microbiology laboratory experience, preferably in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry.
- Strong understanding of laboratory operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in aseptic techniques and high attention to detail.
- Strong communication, organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, or ISO 9001-regulated environments is preferred.
