Software Engineer, Entry SMC

Position Overview

Join our team at NASA Kennedy Space Center as a Software Developer supporting the Command & Control Systems within the Launch Control Center (LCC). You will design, develop, test, and maintain software systems critical to missions including the International Space Station, Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and more. Key Responsibilities

• Explore new ideas and develop actionable solutions to software delivery pipeline challenges.
• Clearly communicate concepts, ideas, and accomplishments to peers and leadership.
• Utilize CMMI compliant processes to develop, modify, and maintain software applications.
• Prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with varying deadlines.
• Perform code reviews, testing, and technical evaluations to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Evaluate safety-critical software and contribute to the development of Software Safety Plans.
• Participate in technical meetings and provide regular status updates to identify and address roadblocks.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support overall team success.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical field.
• Proven experience in software design, implementation, testing, user support, and maintenance.
• Familiarity with CMMI compliant processes and software configuration management.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C++, Java, Bash, or Python.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Ability to prioritize work and adapt to evolving mission requirements and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Opmantek, Jenkins, Code Collaborator, JAMA, or Clear Quest.
