Position Overview
Works at the direction of the Clinical Pharmacist Specialists in performing daily activities to support clinical pharmacy initiatives which include, but are not limited to, direct patient care, Oral Chemotherapy Program, Medication Orders Subcommittee (MOS), transitions of care, medication safety, and quality improvement projects as deemed appropriate by Pharmacy Leadership. Serves in both inpatient and outpatient pharmacy settings and provides a wide range of medication management and administrative services to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the professional staff. Facilitates and implements essential clinical pharmacy processes to ensure the safe and appropriate use of medications throughout the institution. Acts as a liaison between patients and clinical staff to optimize clinical pharmacy services.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsibilities: Provide support for clinical pharmacy initiatives including patient care, Oral Chemotherapy Program, and medication safety projects.
- Provide medication management and administrative services in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Act as a liaison between patients and clinical staff to ensure efficient and safe pharmacy processes.
Required Qualifications
- Qualifications: National Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or ExCPT from National Healthcareer Association (NHA) is required.
- Requirements: Registered Pharmacy Technician with NYS Office of the Professions, State Education Department.
- Education: High School diploma or High School Equivalency and a minimum of three (3) years full-time Pharmacy Technician experience in a hospital, healthcare organization, chemo-infusion, specialty pharmacy, insurance company or a related field.
- Must maintain required New York State registration and national certification as a Pharmacy Technician as a condition of continued employment.
- Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
