This role is for a Performance Vehicle Dynamics CAE Engineer in Allen Park, Michigan (hybrid work – from home and our Allen Park office). Compensation: We are offering a salary of $125,362.00 - $197,750.40/yr.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support program architecture decisions by developing CAE tools and software, including new tool and method development.
  • Create and maintain full vehicle ADAMS and Car Sim models for current and future performance vehicles.
  • Collaborate with the Advanced Systems Engineering Group to define new product suspension and chassis designs.
  • Establish suspension and vehicle handling performance based on target attributes, benchmark vehicles, test data, and Health Chart metrics.
  • Support vehicle testing and attribute measurement to validate CAE models and vehicle parameters.
  • Develop and integrate vehicle controls models into dynamic simulations using MATLAB and Simulink tools.
  • Utilize CAE tools and test results to support high-performance vehicle development and full vehicle/suspension system modeling.
  • Develop new tools to improve performance, steering, and handling predictions.
  • Inform planned vehicle testing to create specific attribute targets and ensure hardware choices support these targets.
  • Support full vehicle simulation modeling.
  • Domestic travel required up to 8%.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in this or a related occupation.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with:
    • Utilizing ADAMS for vehicle system modeling
    • Utilizing MATLAB or Simulink for vehicle analysis tool development
    • Defining system and vehicle level metric targets
    • Correlating vehicle models with test data using CarSim/Carmaker and ADAMS
    • Cascading system level requirements to component teams through various testing procedures
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with:
    • Vehicle mechanical processes (e.g. part replacements, damper servicing, dyno testing) and fabrication processes (e.g. cutting, grinding, bending, welding, milling)
    • Real vehicle evaluation and assessment against defined targets
    • Motorsports or high-performance vehicle development
  • Minimum 1 year of experience utilizing CarSim or CarMaker for full vehicle system modeling.
