Medical Assistant - Kahala, Visiting Specialist

Position Overview

As a Medical Assistant in our Visiting Specialist department, you will join a dedicated team performing a wide variety of patient care activities and supporting our state‐of‐the‐art diagnostic and electronic medical record systems.

Location: Straub Medical Center, Honolulu, HI | Work Schedule: Day/Evening (8 Hours) | Part Time Regular (FTE: 0.600)

Key Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and medical staff in delivering compassionate, quality care.
• Perform a wide range of patient care activities in the Visiting Specialist department.
• Support diagnostic services and manage electronic medical records efficiently.
• Facilitate effective patient communication through tools like the MyChart portal.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant Program and/or equivalent experience.
• Certification as a Medical Assistant by a recognized organization (AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, NHA, AMCA, or ARMA).
• Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least six (6) months of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Working knowledge of CPT and/or ICD-10 coding procedures.
• Experience with electronic medical records systems.
