Position Overview

The Leave Case Manager serves as the primary contact and knowledge expert in VUMC’s leave process. In this role, you will guide employees applying for leave, ensure adherence to policies and legal requirements, and coordinate communications with employees and leaders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise and guidance on VUMC’s leave of absence administration process including determining eligibility, reviewing medical documentation, and designating qualifying leave.
  • Ensure employees and leaders understand documentation, notice, and other requirements to qualify for leave and any modified work schedules.
  • Advise on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off, including issues related toworker’s compensation, short-term and long-term disability.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in compliance with legal requirements and best practices.
  • Facilitate additional leave and accommodation requests, including participation in the return-to-work process for employees on extended leave.
  • Process exemption requests and compile data to assist leaders in developing effective leave management plans while preserving confidentiality of employee information.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of FMLA processing experience.
  • 2+ years of Workday experience, including Help and LOA modules.
  • 2+ years of case management experience.
  • Ability to work core business hours in the Central Time Zone.
