Position Overview

Grow with Confidence. The ideal candidate would be located near one of our office locations in Lenexa, KS or Fresno, CA. This role can be remote or hybrid. ProAg is seeking an Associate Underwriter or Underwriter who is innovative, relationship-driven, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. In this position you will review annual policy documents to ensure adherence to federal and company guidelines, building meaningful relationships and serving as a subject matter expert for both internal and external customers. Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate new and renewal policy documents to determine acceptability; perform rating and pricing as needed.
  • Respond to customer inquiries—both written and verbal—in a timely manner, serving as an underwriting resource.
  • Cultivate relationships with internal and external contacts to facilitate the underwriting process and promote business development.
  • Prepare quotations for agents and address questions from agents, policyholders, or prospects.
  • Utilize automated underwriting and/or processing systems to compile information for new or renewal policies.
  • Adhere to company underwriting authority directives, guidelines, and policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of relevant and progressive professional experience.
  • Previous experience in agriculture or crop insurance industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Strong knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in underwriting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of industry changes, legal updates, and technical developments.

Benefits & Perks

  • Compensation: For California-based candidates, the pay range is as follows - Associate Underwriter: $49,500 - $91,600; Underwriter: $62,200 - $115,000. Actual compensation varies based on geographic location, experience, education, and skill level.
