Job Description
Position Overview
Manage an assigned book of business, ensuring account retention and supporting new business. Coordinate day-to-day administrative and customer service activities, resolve complex issues, and ensure no errors or omissions. Serve as a subject matter expert for the account management team. Note: Although this is a fully remote position (EST and CST only), candidates within a 50-mile radius of a branch in Columbia, SC may be required to work onsite occasionally. A dedicated, distraction-free workspace is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a high degree of technical competence and industry expertise.
- Direct daily activities and workflow of the account management team.
- Handle customer service requests, policy administration, billing, claims, and coverage analysis.
- Manage policy expirations and renewals.
- Conduct client research, prepare submissions, negotiate coverages, and present proposals.
- Monitor reports and take action on delinquent accounts, collecting outstanding balances.
- Maintain agency management systems and carrier/vendor platforms, ensuring data accuracy.
- Monitor and maintain activity/suspense to ensure timely completion.
- Maintain transparent communication with the account team regarding workload and issues.
- Deliver excellent service by proactively anticipating needs and responding quickly.
- Stay updated on company policies and procedures.
- Seek and adopt best practices to improve individual and team performance.
- Demonstrate integrity and leadership by championing company values.
Required Qualifications
- Active Property & Casualty license; minimum 5+ years experience as a Commercial Lines Account Manager.
- Proven account management experience (5+ years in the field or 7+ years in the insurance industry).
- Thorough knowledge of insurance brokerage and client needs.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional customer service, communication, multitasking, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- CISR, CIC, CRIS and/or CPCU designations.
- 7-10+ years experience as a Commercial Lines Account Manager.
- Professional designation (e.g., CIC) is preferred.
