Temporary Outside Plant Technician

Position Overview

This role involves using heavy-duty power equipment and hand tools for the construction and repair of outside plant cable facilities, including conduit and pole lines. You will be responsible for loading tools and materials into the assigned company vehicle, operating vehicles with manual gearshift, and performing preventative maintenance on equipment. The position is Non-Management and Non-Commission Based, offered on a Full-Time (Temp/Term) basis in Fresno, California with Compensation ranging between $22.43 and $48.56/hr – with an average starting salary of $54,433.60 per year, depending on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training. Weekly hours are 40.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate heavy-duty power equipment and hand tools in the construction and repair of cable facilities, conduit, and pole lines.
• Load required tools and materials into the assigned Company vehicle and drive to work locations, including vehicles with manual gearshift.
• Obtain and maintain a Class A Driver's License (including passing a Federal DOT Medical Examination) within the first six months of employment.
• Interpret schematic drawings, follow work orders, and adhere to safety, quality, and production standards.
• Perform physical tasks such as heavy lifting, climbing non-stepped poles using climbers, housekeeping for Company vehicles and work areas, and complete daily time reporting.

Required Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy-duty power equipment and hand tools in construction or similar environments.
• Ability to load and unload heavy materials and tools.
• Willingness and ability to obtain a Class A Driver's License and pass the required Federal DOT Medical Examination.
• Physical stamina for demanding tasks such as climbing, lifting, and prolonged outdoor work.
• Familiarity with schematic drawings and standard construction practices.
