Principal Mechanical Engineer (MEP)

Position Overview

JMS Engineering is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead building system design for HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection. This full-time, on-site role is based in Tampa, Florida, USA, and offers a quick path to equity. Compensation: $130,000 – $180,000/year. Key Responsibilities

• Establish an HVAC, Plumbing & Fire Protection team.
• Manage and mentor junior engineers.
• Develop technical deliverables, including construction plans & specifications.
• Coordinate with clients on project requirements and status updates.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies to understand local permitting requirements and submit permit documents for review and approval.
• Perform construction administration duties, including attending and documenting project meetings, conducting site visits, reviewing shop drawings, and assisting with change order, closeout, and other construction documentation.
• Perform onsite construction observation and inspection.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 8+ years of related experience.
• P.E. License.
• Experience with Revit.
• Strong written and oral communication skills with both internal employees and external clients.
• Self-motivated and committed to on-site work.

Preferred Qualifications

• AHCA experience.
• Experience within the healthcare sector.
