Since 1995, Nova Consulting provides professional Civil / Environmental engineering services through every stage of public infrastructure improvement – including planning, design, and construction – as well as Program / Construction Management (PM/CM) services. Nova proudly serves federal, state, and local government agencies on award-winning, multi-million-dollar infrastructure projects for water/wastewater, environmental, resilience/SLR, airports, seaports, transit, roadway, and non-motorized transport. We are seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Engineer to assist in various public infrastructure improvement projects – an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow their technical skills in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support projects relating to planning, design, and construction of engineering infrastructure for public agencies.
- Utilize basic scientific principles, theories, and practices to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.
- Prepare data, technical work plans, reports, and scientific documents.
- Conduct field visits to project sites to investigate, record, and photograph local conditions.
- Interpret and record data, conduct analysis, and compare findings to relevant studies and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Apply knowledge of natural sciences (chemistry, physics, biology, hydrology, and mathematics) to engineering problems.
- Leverage CAD, GIS, and other specialized software to develop planning and design documents.
- Prepare studies, construction documents, drawings, maps, reports, and supporting documentation/calculations.
- Coordinate with technicians to ensure timely and accurate document or drawing preparation.
- Collaborate with task and project managers, on-site subcontractors, and field staff; support sampling, data collection, and field documentation.
- Assist with document preparation for regulatory agencies to obtain required permits.
- Review analytical data for quality indicators based on well-defined guidelines.
- Provide technical expertise and support.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or mechanical engineering.
- 1–3 years of experience in civil engineering or a related field.
- Knowledge of engineering and construction principles.
- Previous exposure to GIS, AutoCAD, and Civil3D is preferred.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
- Well-organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
- Strong communication skills – written, oral, and listening – with proven interpersonal abilities for collaborative team environments.
- Ability to review, evaluate, and verify the accuracy and viability of designs, data, reports, and other documents.
- Capability to adhere to company standards, procedures, project budgets, and schedules.
- Proven ability to interact positively and effectively with individuals at all organizational levels.
