Job Description

Position Overview

The Laboratory Technician works under direct supervision to perform pre-analytical tasks and assist with analytical procedures for patient testing. The role is based in Rancho Bernardo, CA. The work schedule is 5 days a week (Tuesday through Saturday, 8 hours per day) with a shift from 8:00 pm to 4:30 a.m.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with testing all methods approved by CAP and CLIA under the supervision of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS).
  • Provide training and guidance to other Laboratory Technicians, Assistants and Data Entry personnel as needed.
  • Participate in process improvement activities including quality, safety, document management and proficiency testing.
  • Assist with the implementation of new test methods and interact with vendors for validations and new equipment setup.
  • Perform instrument maintenance, repairs, preventative maintenance and calibrations on laboratory equipment.
  • Monitor reagent and supply inventory and prepare laboratory reagents and assay materials following SOPs.
  • Help organize patient specimens, assay worksheets/printouts, and assist in drafting laboratory documents such as Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Follow all safety procedures, policies, precautions, and Quality Assurance requirements at all times.
  • Undertake other related duties and support initiatives as directed by lead or management.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in a Hard Scientific Field
  • 1+ Years of experience in a professional laboratory
