In the role of Data, Analytics and Strategy – Manager – Oil & Gas Sector, you will help deliver data-driven insights and solutions to oil & gas clients by guiding them through evolving analytics, data governance, and modern data platforms. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage complex processes and projects while ensuring quality and risk management.
  • Assist in developing resource plans and budgets for engagements to ensure effective economics.
  • Define and execute analytics, data, and governance strategies aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement robust data governance frameworks, including policies, data stewardship models, roles, and accountability.
  • Oversee Master Data Management, metadata management, and data cataloging to ensure data consistency and trust.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy, protection, and regulatory standards by collaborating with Legal, Security, and Risk teams.
  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality analytics outcomes.
  • Design scalable, secure, and cost-effective data & analytics architectures including AI/ML & GenAI solutions.
  • Oversee cloud-based platforms and technologies such as Databricks, Snowflake, Azure, AWS, and Hadoop.
  • Drive the design and implementation of analytical models, data pipelines, AI engineering, and visualizations.
  • Leverage advanced analytics, machine learning, and generative AI techniques to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Translate business initiatives into prioritized use cases with measurable ROI and manage multi-domain delivery.
  • Develop and champion data literacy programs and change management initiatives.
  • Communicate analytical findings through compelling storytelling, dashboards, and visualizations.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with client stakeholders across various domains.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and oil & gas industry trends.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree preferred in a quantitative or technical field such as statistics, computer science, engineering, or mathematics.
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in data analytics, data governance, or data strategy, preferably within the oil & gas industry.
  • Demonstrated success in deploying analytics solutions across various oil & gas domains including upstream, midstream, and downstream.
  • Deep knowledge of data, analytics, and AI governance including data quality frameworks, stewardship models, compliance, and policy creation.
  • Familiarity with Master Data Management, metadata, lineage tracking, and data catalog tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation).
  • Proficiency with data analytics tools and platforms such as SQL, Python, PySpark, R, Power BI, Tableau, Cognite, Palantir, or Dataiku.
  • Expertise in advanced analytics, data science, generative AI, and machine learning applied to solving operational or financial challenges.
  • Hands-on experience with big data and cloud platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, Azure (Data Factory, AzureML), AWS, or Hadoop.
  • Ability to lead large-scale digital transformation engagements, manage delivery risk, and foster trusted client relationships.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across both technical and business domains.
  • Passion for mentoring, knowledge sharing, and building high-performing data teams.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud and data engineering tools including Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, and data orchestration platforms.
  • Understanding of regulatory and data privacy implications within the oil & gas sector.
  • A valid U.S. driver’s license and willingness to travel to client locations as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience deploying data products in asset management, ESG reporting, operational efficiency, or safety compliance in industrial environments.
  • Familiarity with data mesh concepts and decentralized data ownership models.
  • Certifications in Azure Data Engineer, Snowflake, Databricks, or related platforms.
  • Experience with Data Office Organization and Architecture.
  • Familiarity with digital fluency and hybrid collaboration techniques.
  • Strong emotional agility in navigating complex interpersonal dynamics.

Benefits & Perks

  • Compensation: We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package. The base salary range is $125,500 to $230,200 in most U.S. locations, and $150,700 to $261,600 for New York City Metro Area, Washington State, and California (excluding Sacramento). Salaries are determined through factors including education, experience, skills, and geography. Our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
  • Schedule: Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model, with an expectation for client-facing roles to work in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement.
