Position Overview

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Automotive Powertrain Engineer to join their world‐class research and development team in Detroit, Michigan, US. This role is pivotal in the design, development, testing, and validation of next-generation automotive powertrain systems, with a strong focus on enhancing performance, efficiency, and emissions compliance. You will lead complex engineering projects from concept through to production release while ensuring strict adherence to automotive standards and timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage complex engineering projects from concept definition to production release.
  • Develop detailed engineering specifications and create sophisticated simulation models.
  • Analyze test data and troubleshoot issues during the development cycle.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, designers, and manufacturing specialists to ensure seamless integration of powertrain components.
  • Ensure all designs meet stringent automotive standards and compliance regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in the automotive industry.
  • Deep expertise in internal combustion engines, electric powertrains, hybrid systems, and related control strategies.
  • Proven experience with powertrain design tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, GT-POWER, STAR-CCM+).
  • Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, testing methodologies, and robust troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
