Job Description

Position Overview

The Medical Assistant (Credentialed/Certified) at UI Health, Mile Square Health Center supports physician practice in an outpatient setting under the direction of a Physician. Located in Chicago, IL and part of MSHC - Back of the Yard Clinic, this role offers a work schedule of 8:00AM - 4:00PM with rotating Saturdays. Compensation: $24.83 - 38.41 per Hourly Wage. Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain medical records within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems by reviewing, updating, and preparing documentation prior to patient exams.
  • Assist nursing/medical staff with preliminary patient assessments, education, intake screenings, and obtaining vital signs.
  • Administer basic tests (such as EKG, spirometry, and pulse oximetry) and guide patients on test preparations and procedures.
  • Document patient observations, medications for reconciliation, and lab data while ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Coordinate patient care tasks including scheduling appointments, checking patients in/out, and managing office reception duties.
  • Handle related clerical activities such as maintaining patient files, processing cash payments, and ordering supplies.
  • Perform cleaning, sterilization of equipment, and quality control tests while adhering to safety and infection control protocols.
  • Obtain pre-authorizations and referrals as necessary and participate in special projects and additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Current/valid certification as a Certified Medical Assistant by an approved certifying board (e.g., AAMA, AMT, NCCTI, or NHA).
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support CPR Certification.
