Position Overview
Director of Marketing and Communications for the Advancement Department at Warner University. Reporting to the Vice President of Advancement & External Relations, this role is responsible for shaping and delivering the University’s voice and brand across internal and external communication channels. The position involves developing, writing, editing, and managing content for print, digital, and social media platforms while building strategic partnerships with campus stakeholders to support enrollment, fundraising, alumni engagement, and public relations efforts.
Preference will be given to alumni or candidates with an exceptionally close connection to Warner University and its community. The candidate must value the cultural role of evangelical Christian higher education, affirm the University Statement of Faith, and ideally have relevant theological education or experience in Christian education within an orthodox, evangelical context.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning: Develop and manage an annual, multi-year marketing and communication plan aligned with the University’s strategic goals.
- Brand Management: Oversee the University’s brand identity to ensure consistent messaging, tone, and graphic standards across materials and platforms.
- Integrated Campaigns: Plan and execute marketing campaigns across digital and traditional channels, collaborating with campus partners.
- Content Creation & Management: Manage content creation including writing, editing, photography, and videography for promotional materials.
- Digital Presence: Oversee the University’s website and social media channels to ensure they are current, engaging, and support strategic goals.
- Financial Acumen: Collaborate with executive leadership to manage marketing budgets and vendor relations for Advancement and Admissions initiatives.
- Enterprise-wide Communications: Manage a fast-paced content calendar and oversee creative execution for targeted messaging.
- Newsletters & Communications: Oversee the design, layout, writing, and distribution of University-wide newsletters and communications.
- Digital & Social Media Strategy: Design, write, and edit communications for both digital platforms and social media accounts.
- Stakeholder Partnerships: Build and maintain strong internal partnerships to facilitate strategic communications and relationship building.
- Storytelling & Reporting: Conduct interviews, research, and deliver compelling storytelling and impact reporting.
- Brand Stewardship: Oversee adherence to Warner’s Brand Standard Guide and manage press release distribution.
- Multimedia Coordination: Coordinate photography, video production, and editing projects.
- Analytics: Analyze engagement metrics and provide performance reporting.
- Communications Coordination: Coordinate operations within the Warner Office of Communications.
- Publications: Oversee the design, layout, and content development of the Royal Magazine/annual report.
- Alumni Communications: Collaborate to produce newsletters for alumni, friends, and community partners.
- Event Support: Provide support and attend special events as needed.
- Enrollment Marketing: Collaborate on marketing initiatives related to recruitment and overall brand development.
- Website Management: Lead the ongoing management of the University’s main website to enhance user experience and support recruitment.
- Web Strategy: Oversee content strategy, design standards, accessibility, and usability for marketing web pages.
- Strategic Direction: Provide guidance on project prioritization and overall strategic direction for digital initiatives.
- Vendor Coordination: Manage relationships and tasks with website hosting vendors.
Required Qualifications
- Excitement about Warner University’s vision, mission, and commitment to biblical orthodoxy.
- Education: A minimum of a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree; Master’s Degree preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience in public speaking.
- Demonstrated expertise with content management systems.
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and basic knowledge of JavaScript and PHP.
- Familiarity with Google Analytics, SEO/SEM best practices, and web accessibility standards.
- Ability to train and guide University partners in content entry and CMS usage.
- Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
- Proven leadership in coordinating projects.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
