Job Description
Position Overview
Support Services section that provides web-based applications developed on an open source platform to meet SwRI needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain PERL CGI web-based applications that interact with a SQL backend database (Oracle) on an open source platform (Linux).
- Focus on generating dynamic web content after querying a back end database.
- Test and document developed code prior to release into production.
- Meet with end users to gather requirements/details for bugs/enhancements.
- Implement bug fixes/enhancements as tasked from the Bugzilla bug/enhancement tracking system.
- Participate in code and peer reviews, ensuring quality testing and proper documentation of modifications.
- Utilize Git as a source repository to manage changes.
- Collaborate with team members when developing or correcting application issues.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or any related IT field that incorporates software development.
- At least 1 year of experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and SQL with a strong understanding of relational databases.
- At least 1 year of experience in Common Gateway Interface (CGI) web-based development using PERL (PHP and Python are acceptable substitutes) on an open source platform (e.g. LAMP stack).
- At least 1 year of experience working with the Linux operating system (shell preferred), including navigation at the command line level and creation/editing of files using a vi-based editor.
- A valid/clear driver's license is required.
- Applicant will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
