Position Overview
Hennepin Healthcare, an integrated system of care with nationally recognized trauma centers and a robust clinical network, is hiring a part-time Medical Assistant for our Women's Health & Wellness Clinic (OB/Gyn) in downtown Minneapolis. In this role you will work under the direction of physicians and clinical team members to provide quality, patient- and family-centered care that meets high standards. Key Responsibilities
- Perform assigned clinical tasks under the direction of a physician or other providers including administering medications, injections, and immunizations; performing spirometry, tympanometry; applying minor dressings and splints; and connecting patients to portable monitors.
- Set up for and provide direct assistance with medical examinations and procedures such as colposcopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and minor surgery.
- Perform specimen collection including blood draws, sputum samples, and urine samples.
- Conduct hearing and vision screens along with developmental testing.
- Review patient information during the rooming process and accurately enter data into medical records.
- Perform basic patient care activities including rooming patients and taking/charting vital signs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Associate's Degree from an accredited Medical Assistant program (including a clinical externship or formal military medical services training).
- Proven ability to perform specialized clinical tasks and procedures, including specimen collection, vital signs monitoring, and assisting with examinations and procedures.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work cohesively with a diverse team and patient population, and proficient in handling electronic patient records.
- Must be credentialed or registered through AAMA, AMT, or NHA within thirteen (13) months of employment and have (or be able to obtain) valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification within three months.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with EPIC or similar electronic health record systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software.
- At least 6 months of related experience or HHS externship.
- Bilingual in English and at least one other language commonly spoken by HHS patients.
