Job Description
Position Overview
The Fresno County Department of Agriculture invites applications for the position of Deputy Agricultural Commissioner/Sealer in Fresno County, CA. Reporting to the Agricultural Commissioner/Sealer or their designee, incumbents work collaboratively as a key member of the administrative team to develop policies, programs, and operational objectives in compliance with federal, state, and local ordinances and guidelines. Compensation: $112,476.00 - $143,520.00 Annually.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and manage one or more agriculture and/or weights and measures programs.
- Collaborate with the Agricultural Commissioner/Sealer to determine policies and develop programs.
- Formulate operational objectives in alignment with federal, state, and local regulatory guidelines.
- Represent the Agricultural Commissioner/Sealer in their absence as required.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree in agriculture, biological, chemical or physical sciences, or a bachelor's degree with at least 30 semester units in agricultural sciences, biological sciences, chemical sciences, physical sciences, mathematics and/or statistics from an accredited institution.
- Experience: Three (3) years of full-time, paid professional work experience in enforcing agricultural and weights and measures laws and regulations.
- License: Possession of a valid California Department of Food and Agriculture license as either a Deputy County Sealer of Weights and Measures or Deputy County Agricultural Commissioner. Note that if hired with one license, the incumbent must obtain the remaining Deputy level license within 36 months.
- Driver's License: Possession of a valid Class "C" driver's license or equivalent.
