Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Position Overview
SOCOTEC Consulting, Inc. is a leading engineering/architectural consulting firm recognized for its expertise in building envelope, forensic, sustainability, energy efficiency, code advisory, and commissioning services. In this role, you will work with project and staff engineers on geotechnical assignments for a diverse portfolio of projects in Southwest Florida and participate in national consulting for out-of-state projects. You will mentor field and laboratory staff on soil/concrete testing and foundation installation inspections, while also engaging in forensic investigations related to foundation distress.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate with clients and develop proposals for geotechnical studies, field tests, analysis, and design.
- Organize and coordinate with field and laboratory staff to complete explorations and lab testing.
- Prepare report documents presenting geotechnical findings and recommendations for construction projects.
- Assist and/or oversee scheduling for the in-house drilling crew and subcontractors.
- Complete site visits to construction sites and support owners/contractors with geotechnical and CoMET issues.
- Conduct site visits to completed structures to investigate distress and provide repair recommendations.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with the ability to obtain a PE license in Florida within 3 months.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in geotechnical and CoMET studies.
- Ability to analyze field/laboratory data and select the optimum foundation option(s) for a project.
- Proficient in the design of shallow foundations, soil improvement methods, ACIP piles, concrete piles, mini-piles, and stone columns.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with geotechnical design programs.
- Strong critical-thinking, problem-solving, and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Comfortable working on construction sites with strong teamwork skills.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of local subsurface conditions.
- Experience working out in the field.
- MS in geotechnical engineering.
