Our commitment to excellence and innovation sets us apart in the industry. We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Employee Benefits Account Executive to join our leadership team. The Account Executive will oversee account operations, lead and mentor account management staff, and serve as a trusted advisor for key clients. In addition, this role will support business development efforts by expanding relationships with existing clients, collaborating with the sales team, and identifying opportunities for agency growth. The ideal candidate combines deep benefits expertise with strong leadership, relationship-building, and strategic business acumen.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Relationship Management:
- Serve as the strategic point of contact for key client accounts (100+ employees), ensuring client satisfaction, retention, and growth.
- Provide guidance on plan design, renewals, and compliance while delegating day-to-day servicing to Account Managers.
- Deliver high-level presentations, reports, and recommendations to clients, focusing on long-term benefits strategies.
- Partner with clients to identify opportunities for expanded services, new offerings, and strategic solutions that strengthen relationships.
- Business Development & Growth:
- Collaborate with the sales team to develop and execute strategies that drive new client acquisition and expand existing accounts.
- Support proposal development, client presentations, and finalist meetings as needed.
- Leverage industry knowledge and data insights to recommend innovative solutions that differentiate Evans National in the marketplace.
- Monitor market trends and competitive activity to identify opportunities for growth.
- Operations & Staff Leadership:
- Oversee daily operations of the account management team, ensuring workflows are efficient and aligned with agency goals.
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate account management staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional development.
- Recruit, train, and onboard new team members to maintain a high-performing department.
- Monitor performance metrics, retention rates, and operational accuracy through tools such as Benelinx.
- Compliance & Industry Expertise:
- Ensure all benefits programs comply with ACA, ERISA, and other applicable regulations.
- Stay current on industry trends, regulatory updates, and best practices, implementing changes as necessary.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and ensure compliance standards are consistently met.
- Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Analyze client and operational data to identify opportunities for improvement and efficiency.
- Prepare weekly and quarterly reports for leadership detailing team performance, client satisfaction, and potential risks.
- Provide clients with dashboards and insights that inform strategic decision-making.
- Strategic Planning & Process Improvement:
- Collaborate with leadership to define long-term agency vision and growth strategies.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and work cross-functionally to implement solutions.
- Partner with technology vendors (e.g., Benelinx, Salesforce) to enhance operational efficiency.
- Negotiate contracts and manage vendor/carrier relationships to secure favorable terms.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; advanced degree or industry certifications (CEBS, PHR, SHRM-CP) a plus.
- 5–7 years of progressive experience in employee benefits, including leadership and client-facing responsibilities.
- Proven track record of managing large, complex accounts and contributing to revenue growth.
- Deep knowledge of health insurance, retirement, and voluntary benefits, as well as regulatory requirements.
- Strong business development and relationship management skills, with the ability to identify and capitalize on growth opportunities.
- Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and benefits administration/CRM platforms.
