Data Sciences Research Intern

Position Overview

Leidos is seeking a motivated intern to support our work in Data Sciences research. Based out of our Arlington, VA or San Diego, CA office – with the flexibility for remote work or onsite – the candidate will collaborate with researchers and engineers on innovative projects. They will be involved in adapting and extending data science technologies, developing prototypes, drafting research papers, and supporting cyber programs. Intellectual adaptability, inquisitiveness, effective communication, self‐management, and a problem-solving mindset are essential to successfully develop, defend, execute, and present research plans.

Key Responsibilities

• At the direction of the project lead, analyze and assess internal projects and artifacts as part of developing innovative data science solutions.
• Support the analysis and interpretation of experimental results by senior researchers and decision-makers.
• Communicate plans and results effectively through written status reports and presentations.

Required Qualifications

• Pursuing a Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
• Experience with programming languages such as Java, Scala, C/C++, Ruby, Rust, or Python.
• Coursework in artificial intelligence and/or machine learning.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
• US citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience working with data science technologies.
• Demonstrable experience and curiosity in data science.
