Tankerman 1st Assistant Engineer

Responsibilities
- Stand engine room watches and oversee the daily operation of propulsion, power generation, and auxiliary systems.
- Lead preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, overhauls, and ensure the safe return of equipment to service.
- Support cargo operations, including managing pumps, valves, manifolds, line-ups, tank monitoring, and transfers in accordance with established procedures.
- Ensure compliance with Safety Management Systems (SMS), environmental regulations, and safety protocols; enforce LOTO, hot work, confined space, and permit systems.
- Maintain accurate logs, maintenance records, and reports; assist with audits and inspections.
- Mentor and supervise junior engineers and oilers, fostering a safety-first culture.
- Coordinate effectively with deck and shoreside teams during operations and port calls.
Requirements
- Valid USCG First Assistant Engineer license with Tankerman endorsement.
- STCW certifications including BST, Advanced Fire Fighting, PSC, MFA, and Security.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, with experience in diesel engines, generators, pumps, and cargo systems.
- Ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced offshore environment with rotating schedules.
