Technical Product Owner / Software Development Expert

Position Overview

This is an opportunity to join our top-notch software development team working together on interesting projects for our clients. Emergent Software is seeking a Technical Product Owner / Software Development Expert with 5+ years of experience managing custom web application projects on the Microsoft stack using agile methodologies. This is a fully remote role that values strong communication skills and a passion for technology. Compensation: $120,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather and analyze requirements to fully understand project objectives, scope, cost, and timeline.
• Collaborate with team members and clients to develop and execute comprehensive project plans.
• Communicate technical and business requirements effectively to software engineers.
• Provide regular updates on project status, including risks and changes.
• Manage project delivery using agile methodologies and tools like Microsoft Azure DevOps.
• Evaluate engagement plans to ensure clear deliverables prior to project kickoff.
• Partner with clients to perform and support the Product Owner role.
• Collaborate with leadership and team members to enhance Agile and software delivery practices.

Required Qualifications

• Solid understanding of software development life cycle models with expertise in both Agile and traditional project management principles.
• Proven track record in implementing custom web application projects using Agile methodologies.
• 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner on complex software development projects.
• Strong technical background to provide credible leadership and effectively evaluate project risks and issues.
• Deep understanding of websites, web applications, APIs, databases, and cloud infrastructure.
• Familiarity with agile work organization tools (such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Trello, Basecamp, or Rally).
• Excellent technical writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel occasionally for client engagements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Industry-recognized Agile certification (CSM, SAFe, LeSS, or equivalent) or PMP.
• Experience on a mature agile development team in roles such as developer, Project Manager, Scrum Master, or QA.
• Consulting experience, either independently or with a firm.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft stack technologies (.NET, SQL Server, Azure) as well as JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js).
• Background as a software engineer transitioning into a product owner role.
• A Computer Science degree or equivalent technical background with a genuine passion for software development.
