Job Description

Position Overview

This role is responsible for prospecting and developing business sales relationships with potential clients and closing new and expanded sales agreements. Working in a fast-paced, competitive, and quota-driven environment, the role targets medium-sized businesses (49-499 employees) requiring a proactive approach and a consultative sales process.

Location: Remote office in the Santa Clarita, CA territory

Salary: $105,000 - $107,500 per year base, plus variable commission plan, annual bonus, and restricted stock

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to generate net-new business opportunities by leveraging company expertise, industry profile, and market knowledge
  • Schedule and present Paylocity services to prospective clients
  • Prepare and present proposals and provide appropriate follow-up throughout the sales process
  • Organize, complete, and obtain documentation required for client transition to the Paylocity system
  • Work directly with internal departments to ensure a smooth transition for clients
  • Utilize initiative to develop prospects through telemarketing, referrals, and professional and personal contacts
  • Build and maintain relationships within the Broker channel and other referral sources
  • Maintain contact with existing customers to identify additional service needs
  • Attend trade shows, conferences, and other events to promote Paylocity services
  • Meet or exceed quarterly and annual sales quota for the designated territory
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • HS diploma or equivalent required; college degree strongly desired
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a sales position
  • Ability to succeed in a competitive environment and maintain high activity standards
  • Proven track record of sales success
  • Critical thinking and decision-making skills to handle objections and unexpected situations throughout the sales cycle
  • Customer service orientation with strong presentation, written, and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with proficiency in MS Office applications and Internet usage
  • Mobility required for sitting, standing, walking, and driving to prospective client sites
  • Manual/finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and manipulate small objects
  • Sensory ability to see, hear, and touch; mental effort required for reading, writing, visualization, calculation, and analysis
  • Ability to work in an office environment with uniform temperatures and normal air conditions
