Job Description

Position Overview

Our client, a global leader in high‑tech surface finishing systems, is seeking a Travel Install/Service Technician with mechanical, electrical, or pneumatic experience to join their team. In this hybrid, travel‑heavy role (up to 80% travel, typically 3 weeks on-site and 1 week remote), you will be responsible for installing and servicing industrial powder coating equipment throughout North America. Based in/near Minneapolis, Chicago, Atlanta, Charlotte, Detroit, Nashville, or Kansas City, this opportunity is ideal for a hands‑on, safety‑oriented professional who excels in a customer‑facing environment.

Compensation: Estimated Annual $90K–$100K+ (Base $65K + Overtime $25K–$35K+) plus Annual Profit Sharing.

Job Type: Full‑Time | Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities

  • Travel to customer sites to perform equipment installations, troubleshooting, and service.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic system issues.
  • Install and test powder coating equipment across customer sites in North America.
  • Coordinate on-site needs, timelines, and progress with internal and customer teams.
  • Support pre‑assembly of equipment and components before field installation.
  • Train customers on proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Provide diagnostic troubleshooting via phone or email during non‑travel weeks.
  • Document work performed and complete service reports accurately.
  • Relay technical issues and insights to the internal team for resolution.
  • Serve as a technical resource for the sales team when needed.
  • Operate lifts, forklifts, and other equipment in compliance with safety standards.
  • Adhere to all company protocols and site safety regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • 2‑year technical degree plus 1 year of experience OR 3+ years of related experience.
  • Hands‑on troubleshooting experience with mechanical, electrical, or pneumatic systems.
  • Proficiency with standard hand tools.
  • Strong communication skills for both in‑person and remote technical support.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office, including calendar management.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime and weekends.
  • Willingness to travel frequently (up to 80%) across North America.
