Position Overview
The Entry-Level Hardware Systems Engineer (Supporting NASA at Johnson Space Center) will support an upcoming NASA exploration project by developing and integrating next generation technology, processes, and designs into flight solutions. Working onsite in Houston, Texas, this role focuses on defining and managing system requirements, verification and validation activities, and assisting in system architecture definition. The successful candidate will participate in design reviews, risk and opportunity management, and collaborate with subject matter experts to execute technical strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and manage system requirements and oversee verification and validation activities.
- Assist in defining the system architecture and evaluating system characteristics and performance.
- Lead integration efforts and participate in testing of work products and lifecycle review processes.
- Participate in design reviews and engage in risk and opportunity management.
- Collaborate with internal and external experts, including innovative technology teams from NASA and leading technology companies, to perform trade studies and down select solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline.
- Experience with leading technical projects.
- Demonstrated experience designing and leading complex system development including both hardware and software configuration items.
- Ability to occasionally travel.
- Strong interpersonal skills in a team environment where collaboration and communication are critical.
- Proven technical problem-solving capability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Passion for Systems Engineering.
- Experience in systems engineering involving system requirements, functional decomposition and allocation, functional integration, and evaluation.
- Familiarity with requirements development processes.
- Experience with development assurance, certification, and safety analysis.
- Experience with Cradle, DOORs, or similar requirements development software.
- Knowledge of object oriented programming.
- Exposure to Model Based Systems Engineering.
