Job Description

Position Overview

The HR Generalist serves as a hands-on, trusted partner supporting day-to-day human resources operations, compliance, and employee experience for a small, mission-driven organization. This role provides broad generalist support while helping stabilize and strengthen HR foundations during a period of transition. Compensation: $60–65 per hour. Location: Remote or Hybrid.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary HR point of contact for employees and leaders
  • Support employee relations, engagement initiatives, and culture-building efforts
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and applicable employment laws, with emphasis on Colorado regulations
  • Maintain accurate employee records, HRIS data, and documentation
  • Create, update, and maintain employee policies and an employee handbook
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, and offboarding processes
  • Assist with benefits administration and employee inquiries
  • Coordinate with payroll to ensure accurate data changes and compliance
  • Support performance management, policy updates, and HR process improvements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent experience
  • Approximately 3+ years of progressive HR generalist experience
  • Experience supporting or working within a nonprofit environment
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance requirements, ideally including Colorado
  • Ability to work independently as a department of one
  • Strong communication, organizational, and judgment skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred
