Job Description
Position Overview
Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer (Avionics – Mechanical) to work on satellite systems. In this hands‑on role you will design, analyze, and test secondary structures and printed circuit board assemblies, performing trade studies and structural analyses including random vibration and quasi‑static acceleration calculations. You will collaborate across multiple disciplines such as Electrical, RF, Thermal, Dynamics, and Materials while delivering designs that support high volume production.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical design and layout trades to support overall system architecture, collaborating with Electrical, RF, Thermal, Dynamics, Mechanisms, Materials, Manufacturing, Assembly, and Test teams.
- Generate detailed designs using 3D CAD assemblies/components and produce 2D drawings as deliverables.
- Conduct static, dynamic, and modal structural analyses to validate design approaches.
- Develop designs optimized for high volume production (DFM, DFA) and support test campaigns for both development and qualification/acceptance of space hardware.
- Document and present materials for technical design reviews.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
- 4+ years of mechanical engineering experience, including prototyping and implementation.
- Compliance with export control regulations: Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted (refugee/asylee) into the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in designing complex mechanical products and equipment for high-volume production.
- Proficiency with NX and Teamcenter.
